Hopkinton and Pomfret Apprenticeship Programs

We’re proud to offer training in two state-of-the-art New England Laborers’ Training Academies located in Hopkinton, Massachusetts and Pomfret, Connecticut. These training academies are fully equipped and offer LIUNA members a variety of courses in the areas of general construction, hazardous waste remediation, lead and asbestos, abatement, cutting and burning, and more.

As Apprentices are accepted into the program, their first glimpse of the Laborers’ trade is a four-week general construction course at one of our facilities. After completing and passing this course, all individuals will be registered Apprentice Laborers in their respective states and begin working on union construction projects.

The Apprentice Laborers’ rate of pay is based on a percentage of the Journey-workers Laborer rate for the zone where the job site is located. All apprentices start at 60 percent of the Journey-workers’ wage and receive a 10% increase for every 1,000 hours worked. To graduate to become a Journey-worker, you must log 4,000 work hours and 300 classroom hours.
